Clean Traffic
Netdirekt's DDoS protection service is designed to protect online assets from DDoS attacks. They use a network of scrubbing centers that filter out and block malicious DDoS traffic before it can reach the customer's website or online service. The service can protect any IP, port and application and can detect and mitigate volumetric and layer 7 attacks.
To protect your website or service, you will connect your edge router to Netdirekt's scrubbing centers through a cross-connect and BGP setup. If a direct link is not an option, you may connect remotely via a BGP tunneling. The service will automatically detect and filter out traffic only during an attack, ensuring that legitimate traffic can reach the website or service.
Netdirekt also provides an API that allows customers to interact with the system and update the status of protection, retrieve statistics, and upload SSL certificates. You will also have the ability to add other anti-DDoS providers in routing, as well as the option to maintain Netdirekt in routing or not. The service also offers the option of Standard or Expert SLA which allows customers to fine-tune the anti-DDoS filter for their specific business needs.
Netdirekt's DDoS protection service also provides detailed attack reports during and after an attack. These reports can be in various forms such as charts, IP packet inspection and real-time information.
Customers can access this information via a customer dashboard, giving them visibility into the nature and extent of the attack. This allows customers to understand the attack and take necessary actions if needed.
Additionally, the dashboard also provide information such as real-time traffic and packet rate, total attack size and many other data points that can help in understanding the attack and evaluate their protection.
When it comes to gaming applications, typical latency for customers using Voxility's DDoS protection service will vary depending on the location of their service and the location of our closest security scrubbing center. To get an accurate reading of the latency, customers can use the traceroute function to determine the routing of their traffic.
The latency will be at its maximum when there is a higher latency between the customer's service location and the nearest security scrubbing center. We have multiple scrubbing centers in the US and Europe to ensure that the service is connected to the one with the lowest latency back to your network.
However, it's worth noting that routes may not be as direct as they are coming from an end-user data center. Overall, Voxility is committed to providing low-latency and high-performance service to ensure your gaming experience is not impacted by DDoS attacks.
Netdirekt's DDoS protection service offers two detection modes to help protect against DDoS attacks. The first mode, "always on," filters traffic towards targeted IPs constantly, ensuring instant detection and mitigation of DDoS attacks. This mode is ideal for services that are highly sensitive to abrupt changes in traffic, but it is not typically recommended unless it is deemed necessary. The second mode, "sensor," is designed to detect and redirect traffic to the Netdirekt Scrubbing Cloud only when an attack is detected. This allows for more accurate detection of DDoS attacks and helps minimize the potential impact on legitimate traffic. The mode that's best for you would depend on how you want the service to mitigate attacks. On average, the service is designed to treat all DDoS events within seconds of detection.
When you use Netdirekt's anti-DDoS service with layer 7 filtering (reverse proxy), it acts as a protective barrier for your web server port 443. In case of an attack, the filter will cache the content of your site, this way only non-cached, filtered traffic will be able to reach your server. This mechanism is achieved by using a reverse proxy, which is a network of web servers that cache your website's content, increasing the capacity of your server by several times, and also speeds up web-content delivery.
The content that cannot be cached will be passed to your server after the user-initiated session is thoroughly checked for any possible malformations, this way Netdirekt's DDoS protection service ensures that only safe and legitimate traffic reaches your server, defending it from malicious DDoS attacks.
